Obituary of Anna Isley

ISLEY, Anna (Massong)

94 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Sun Parlor Home on December 16, 2018.  Anna was born in Klek, Yugoslavia and immigrated to Essex County with her family at just four years old.  She attended Albertville Public School, but the Great Depression prevented her from continuing her education and dream to become a nurse.  She helped her parents on the family farm and during the winter months of WWII, worked at the Imperial Tobacco Factory.  On October 5, 1946, Anna married Joseph, the love of her life.  They built a life together, always at each other’s side.  They purchased their own family farm and worked the land in between Joseph’s work at Chrysler, and while Anna raised their three children.  Anna and Joseph were members of the Rhine Danube Club and loved to travel and dance the Polka circuit with their friends.  Anna is predeceased by her husband Joseph (2001); parents Joseph and Christina; and brothers Joseph and Frank.  She will be truly missed by her sons Joseph Jr. (Diane), Robert (Pam), and John (Lucy).  Cherished Grandmother of Christine, David (Sharon), David (Natasha), Karin (Gerry Gostenik), Kate, Mary-Ann (Michael Raffoul) and Matthew (Andrea).  Proud “Omi” to 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.  Also survived by her sister-in-law, Rose Massong and many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank all those who cared for Anna over last 8 years at the Sun Parlor Home.  A special Thank You to Gordie, Angelica, and the staff of 2 East for their kindness and compassion.  Thank you to Father Tom for his support and administrating her last rites as a Catholic. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 14 Russell St, Leamington (519-326-2631) Thursday from 2-5pm and 7-9pm.  Funeral Service to celebrate Anna’s life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:30am.  Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery to follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in her memory, to the Sun Parlor Home Ladies Auxiliary in Leamington.  Family and friends are invited to share their words of comfort and remembrance at www.reidfuneralhome.ca
