Obituary of Michael Laliberte
16 years, passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends at his home on Tuesday July 14, 2020. Adored son of Erin and Dennis Medeiros. Loving brother of Silvana and Sofia. Cherished Grandson of Nancy and Eric Pimiskern, Adelino and Isaura Medeiros and Norm Laliberte. Beloved nephew of Robyn and Matthew Shaften and Mario and Sandra Medeiros. Loved cousin of Noah, Quinn, Easton, Austin, Cameron and Megan. Loving boyfriend of Ella Williams. Special friend of Leo.
Will be missed by many friends from the LDSS Lions, Wheatley Warriors, WAMS. Michael battled childhood cancer for 3 years during which he maintained Honour Roll and Principal's Honour Roll, played, ref'd and coached soccer and excelled in everything he did. Michael had a sense of style matched by no other, his love of shoes was well known by the community and many watched for his outfit of the day. He fought with a smile, was fearless and never gave up. He was an inspiration to any one lucky enough to know him. He will be missed greatly. We were blessed to have help and support by many local organizations; TLC Foundation, Little Hands for a Cause, ChildCan, Make a Wish, POGO, Starlight Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Icing Smiles, Portuguese community, Fight like Mason and DADS. The family is truly blessed to be a part of such a gracious community as Wheatley and are so thankful for everything everyone has done for us. A special thank you to Michael's medical team; Dr. Cairney, Dr. Seelisch, Dr. Wang, Ursula, Meghan and the entire team, for never giving up and always putting Michael needs (and wants) first.
Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell Street, Leamington on Saturday, July 18, 2020 from 2-5pm and 6-8pm. A private family service will be held. If desired, memorial donations made by cheque to TLC Foundation, Little Hands for a Cause, ChildCan, Make a Wish, POGO, Starlight Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Icing Smiles, Fight like Mason or DADS would be appreciated.
