Jacob Thiessen

Obituary of Jacob Thiessen

THIESSEN, Jacob

Jacob Thiessen, was born May 13, 1960, in Mexico, to parents Johan and Helena Thiessen. On July 20, 1986, he married Katharina Loewen. To this marriage were born 5 children: Jake, late Corny, Jessica, Roselina, and Juliana. (In 2009 Jacob lost his son Corny due to a car accident in Mexico)

Jacob was a loving husband and father. He was a man of few but meaningful words. He had a wonderful, loving heart and cared deeply for his family.

In 2010 Jacob was diagnosed with kidney failure. He was put on dialysis in 2011 until 2014 when he received a donor kidney.

Jacob received Christ as Lord and Savior, and completely changed his life in 2011. He decided then to completely dedicate his life to God. The last decade of their marriage have been the best years of their life.

His new kidney started failling again in 2018 but he continued working as a truck driver until his accident in April 2019, where he almost lost his life. God gave him another year to spend with us before taking him home. Following his accident  Jacob spent most of his days at home with his wife due to his declining health. In the last months of his life he became noticeably weaker, but always tried to stay positive, looking on the bright side and placing his trust in God.

On July 15, 2020, he had his last over the phone kidney doctor appointment. He was told he would be put back on dialysis in the next couple months.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep July 21, 2020. He reached the age of 60 years and was married 34 years.

Jacob was predeceased by his parents, son Corny, son-in-law Peter Wall, 3 brothers: David, Dietrich and Martin, sister-in-law Katharina and 3 brothers-in-law: Heinrich Bueckert, John Banman and Dietrich Penner.

He is survived by his loving wife Katharina, son Jake, daughters Jessica, Roselina and Juliana. Sons-in-law: Johan, Ben, Frankie and daughter-in-law Mary.  Five grand-children: Selena, Therisa, Marissa, Jordan and Kaylee. As well as many brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, neices, nephews and friends.

Jacob will be remembered for his love of life, love and care for his family and above all his devotion to his savior. We know he went to spend eternity in heaven but he will be dearly missed by us all.

Be still, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10
